We have 14 different clones of Sangiovese including a few selections of ‘Sangiovese Grosso,’ a biotype – as the name suggests – which has larger berries and bunches.  The famed wines of Brunello are made from Sangiovese Grosso and we have some Brunello clones in the vineyard.  In the very hot conditions of vintage 2014 the Brunello clones were the best looking of al the Sangiovese because of later ripening and higher natural acidity.
